Bass Sydney News
Bass Sydney has just clocked up 1500 hours at it's Russell St Emu Plains Bush Regeneration site!
On the 27th July, 2017 Bass Sydney lost its club Patron, Dr Wayne Erskine PHD. He was not quite 63 years of age.
Thanks to all of the members that attended the Lane Cove River club event at Wirrong Flat. It was a top day, Sydney at it's sunny best. We joined with Peter Taggart from LCNP and Jill Steverson from Friends of Lane Cove National Park to do some maintenance work on an area that FLCNP have been involved with. Many trees, shrubs and grasses were planted on National Tree Planting Day on the 30th July by volunteers. We spent the morning re-seating shrouds and then watering. It's a lovely site, really good quality work has been done there among the existing casuarinas to remove vine and lantana and to build a healthy lower layer. We also did a solid bit of lantana removal, cleaning up an area of about 100 square meters.
Our next club general meeting will be held on the 8th August 2017
This year we fished above the Gladesville Bridge. We were fortunate to have a lovely sunny day, but sadly the wind was our enemy this time making fishing conditions very tough. In fact there were only 3 fish caught between 10 or so anglers. Tham, Doug and Jeremy being the only ones to land a fish. I think it might have been Jeremy's first blackfish and his biggest!
